The goal of my concentration was to highlight beautiful faces using photo collage techniques.  Using the element of color in a selective and minimalist way, I added vibrant makeup to create emphasis. I surveyed twelve people, including myself, in order to capture their favorite facial feature. I made that feature the main focus of the each piece, while trying to connect and maintain a modified form of their facial structure.

In the beginning of my concentration, I constructed each piece out of a physical collage of portraits. It was a lot of work and I had to be extremely careful not to leave fingerprints on the images. Images 1, 2 and 4 represent this physical collage form, as you can see they are extremely different and less detailed compared to the digital collages (images 3 & 5-12). In the beginning, I also put makeup on my subjects before I took pictures of them, this was also a tedious task. As I progressed, I realized I could easily accomplish the same effect or even a better effect in Photoshop. So I went to the computer and created collages and applied makeup digitally, as seen in photos 3 & 5-12. I believe that by switching to a digital approach, my concentration became not only stronger, but also more professional sophisticated in their use for formal elements of shape and color.  It Working in layers allowed me to do layers things that I could never have accomplished in a physical form. Creating semi-transparent overlapping images would have been extremely difficult in a physical form of media.
